So where an earth would you get them as freeware?Apparently, it used to be hosted on FileFront, but it's gone now. All the links I can find through googling are dead. Even wikipedia says it isn't available anymore. Can you legally pirate a free game? Also, anyone know where to download the things? The SufferingDownload size: 1.3 GBClick the Download Now button then choose FreewareFiles Download Link under Download Locations ('External Download Link 1' is broken).Alternative link:First link capped at around 2 MB/s and the second one at around 5 MB/s for me.Also, is it being free limited to just the original or does it extend to the Ties That Bind as well?I think it's just the base game, unfortunately. I will re-post the disclaimer you will also find on the website:This free game is only available for US and European users.

Ad-supported client requires Internet connectivity and will not initialise via an Australian Internet addresshow can you pirate a free game?To answer that question - not having to pay does not necessarily mean you cannot infringe copyright. In this very case, you can see that Psi-Ops is not paid for, however, it still imposes limitations. Were you to bypass them (remove ads, remove the need for internet connection, ignore the regional limitation) you would be pirating the game. As a different example, you can also get Windows 10 for free. However, that by no way means that it's somehow 'unpiratable' - if you acquire it through means not approved by Microsoft, you'd be in license breach. You can compare and contrast this with free open source software where very few restrictions are placed on the product. Linux, for example, you can get without paying and then sell to other people - that's completely allowed. Whether or not other people would want to pay you is a different matter, of course.

FOSS may have different license obligations, though - for instance, GPL is of the so called 'copyleft' variety - were you to use GPL licensed code you cannot then license your product more restrictively than GPL (like making it closed source). Were you to breach that clause, you can get sued. On the other hand, there are super permissive licenses like MIT which boil down to 'you can do whatever you like with this product'. I knew Midway developed Psi, but the Air Force was involved? I'm super confused. Mostly due to the fact that a government organization helped create not only a video game, but one of my favourites.Well the US military is notoriously overfunded and I've heard they sometimes give money to scientific projects they think have potential (not military projects but anything they think is a good idea) just to get rid of excess cash they aren't building jets to immediately throw into the scrap yard with so they can do things with it other than build jets to immediately scrap. So this doesn't actually surprise me that much.
